About Us
Monaghan Photographic Society was founded in 1976. Meetings in the early years were held in local schools and hotels.
In 1988 we moved into The Belbroid Centre, our own purpose built premises. The centre comprises a large studio / meeting room which seats about 80; a smaller meeting room / kitchen which seats about 25; a large balcony overlooking the main studio area, store rooms and toilets.
The society is one of the leading clubs in Ireland and has one of the best records in the National League. We have won numerous national awards including the following: 1982 Best Monochrome Club, Best Colour Print Club, National Champions. 1985 Best Colour Print Club, National Champions. 1990 Best Colour Print Club. 1993 Best Colour Print Club. The society has awarded life membership to three members for their outstanding contribution to the society. They are: Sean Cannon, Achill Island, Co. Mayo. Seamus Clerkin, Tralee, Co Kerry and Donal McEnroe, Monaghan.
